Summer BBQ & Picnic
A day of friendship, fun, and family — the Mannar community’s most relaxed tradition, second only to Mannar Night itself.
Mannar Night is our grand celebration — a formal dinner, cultural performances, and fundraising. The Summer BBQ & Picnic is the opposite: casual, relaxed, and purely about community bonding.
No stage. No ticket sales. No long speeches. Just picnic blankets, smoking grills, children running on the grass, and elders laughing under the trees.

A cherished morning ritual
The day begins at 9:00 AM with a quiet tradition — families sharing fresh bread with sambal or dhal curry on picnic mats. Humble, warm, and deeply familiar.

Everyone contributes
Kothu roti, biryani, mutton curry, vadai — the picnic table fills with homemade Tamil delicacies, alongside free BBQ cooked and sponsored by volunteers.
“The food is amazing, but the best part is sharing it with friends you haven’t seen since last year.”

Pure volunteer spirit
No one is paid. The food is donated. Volunteers stand over hot grills, organise games, and lead the cleanup. This is MFA at its heart.

Bring your family. Bring your appetite. Bring your love for the Mannar community. See you at Morningside Park.
