Mannar Night
A celebration of culture, community and identity — bringing the global Mannar diaspora together every year since 2001.
First held in December 2002 in a modest church hall, Mannar Night is MFA’s flagship annual celebration. Over 25 years, it has grown into a beloved tradition — bringing together hundreds of Mannar families across Ontario each November for an evening of remembrance, culture, and giving.
For six hours, it’s more than a party. It’s where childhood friends reunite, where Canadian-born children learn their heritage, and where every ticket sold quietly funds a scholarship, an orphanage, or a family in crisis back home.

For hundreds of Mannar families across the Greater Toronto Area, this is the one night a year old friends and neighbours from the same villages reunite — and it feels like being back home, even in a Canadian winter.
Cultural preservation
The oil lamp lighting, Tamil Thai Vazhthu, and performances of iconic Tamil cinema — all self-funded by the community — give Canadian-born children their first real taste of their heritage.
Fundraising & giving
Every ticket and raffle entry funds scholarships, orphanage sponsorships, and emergency relief in Mannar. Prices stay low on purpose — “this is not about making money from our own people.”
